IFS Capital Featured in The Edge Singapore: A Steady and Transparent Approach to Growth Across Southeast Asia

The feature, titled “Steady Over Spectacular: IFS Capital’s Quiet Edge” (by Frankie Ho, Oct 2025), spotlights how IFS Capital Group, under the leadership of CEO Randy Sim, continues to strengthen its position as a trusted financial partner for businesses and investors in Southeast Asia.

Building Strength Through IFS Asset Management

The article highlights the launch of IFS Asset Management’s second private credit fund, targeting S$50 million in commitments from family offices and institutional investors. This follows its first fund, which began four years ago and achieved annualised returns of more than 5.5% with no losses to date.

“We consider this a portfolio stabiliser,” said Randy Sim, CEO of IFS Capital Limited. “You’re not going to see crazy returns, but it’s very secure.”

The article also notes IFS’s ongoing work to digitise its credit-evaluation and monitoring processes — embedding analysts’ expertise into systems so that lending becomes more auditable and transparent.

“In the past, we depended on experienced analysts to sense anomalies in invoices or purchasing patterns. Now we’re embedding that expertise into systems so even new analysts can perform at a high level, and the process becomes auditable and repeatable.”

These efforts reflect the Group’s belief that verifiable trust and data-driven transparency will define the future of private credit.

Anchored in SME Financing

Beyond its funds business, IFS remains deeply rooted in SME financing — including factoring, asset-based lending, and supply-chain financing. Across Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, the Group supports enterprises often overlooked by banks through accessible, asset-backed financing solutions.

In the feature, Sim described Indonesia as a significant growth opportunity for receivables financing:

“Indonesia is still unfamiliar with factoring. Receivables financing probably makes up less than 3% of total lending there,” says Sim. “I’m like a shoe salesman in a market where people don’t wear shoes. Either I’ll be out of business or I’ve just chanced upon my biggest potential market.”

Completing the Loop with Insurance

The article also references the Group’s insurance subsidiary, ECICS Limited, which continues to stabilise its motor portfolio while expanding into non-motor lines such as domestic-helper and home-content insurance. Despite the competitive environment, ECICS remains a key pillar within the Group’s ecosystem — connecting protection with financing and customer access.

Partnerships and Regional Footprint

In addition, IFS recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan-based Funds Inc to channel institutional capital into asset-backed and structured credit investments across the Asia-Pacific region.

“Funds Inc brings the capital, we bring the regional footprint and credit expertise,” Sim said. “Our role is to be the conduit for different types of capital to reach SMEs.”

A Unified Financial Ecosystem

Together, IFS Capital, IFS Asset Management, ECICS, and the Group’s regional operations form a self-sustaining financial ecosystem.
